In a small bowl mix together sugar, orange juice, salt, almond extract, and zest.
Place large shallow saute pan on medium heat and pour in pecans. Cook over heat for 1-2 minutes until pecans start to become fragrant. Pour over liquid sugar mixture and toss to coat all the pecans. Cook, stirring continuously, for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and pour pecans onto a sheet of parchment paper taking care to make sure they are evenly spread out. Allow to cool and harden. Serve and enjoy!
