Yields7 Servings

Grapefruit Simple Syrup
 juice from one organic grapefruit
 1 cup granulated sugar
 1 cup water
Bubbly Sangria
 1 organic grapefruit
 1 organic navel orange
1 organic apple (cosmic crisp or honeycrisp)
1 bottle of pino grigio or a dry white wine of your choosing
1 bottle of prosecco or a sparkling white wine of your choosing

1

First step is to make the grapefruit simple syrup. In a saucepan on medium heat place juice of one grapefruit, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water. Cook the mixture and stir until sugar completely dissolves and remove from heat. Set aside to cool.

2

In a large pitcher place: 1 grapefruit sliced (no need to remove peel), 1 apple rough chopped, 1 navel orange (also no need to remove peel). Cover with entire bottle of pinot grigio making sure that fruit is entirely immersed in the wine. Add to this, one cup of the grapefruit simple syrup (save the rest for your coffees or iced teas) and cover pitcher.

3

Place in refrigerator for at least a few hours or ideally overnight to allow the fruit to soak up the flavor of the wine. When ready to serve, remove from fridge and combine with 1 bottle of prosecco. Stir gently and serve with pieces of fruit in each glass or strained. Recipe makes about 6 to 8 servings of 16oz drinks.
